This creation by the New York artist KAWS was titled “Companion 2020” and embodies the essence of the year 2020. It was released in December 2020. The iconic character was designed to be displayed face down, with a flattened body and face, which was particularly fitting for the difficult period of repeated COVID-19 lockdowns. The KAWS Companion figure seems to want to hide and, above all, to avoid facing the reality of the current world—and of this very troubled time.
