KAWS Holiday UK is a complete series of three works released in May 2021. The iconic KAWS character, Companion, is depicted in a standing position with its eyes covered. The three editions — black, brown, and grey — were produced by All Rights Reserved to commemorate the debut of KAWS’s sculptural hot-air balloon, one of the largest in the world at 42 meters high, soaring over the English countryside in Bristol.
In May 2021, for its sixth stop, Brian Donnelly (KAWS) and his long-time collaborator All Rights Reserved brought the Companion figure to the United Kingdom, reimagining it as a hot-air balloon. “I’m happy to continue working on exciting projects like KAWS Holiday, and I hope it can bring inspiration in our current global situation,” the artist said in a statement.
Measuring 42 meters tall, the sculptural balloon made its first flight in Bristol, the hot-air balloon capital. The KAWS Holiday Hot-Air Balloon World Tour is now open to the public and officially took off in October 2021.
