This is a collaboration between Shepard FAIREY and Brazilian artist Ernesto YERENA, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of oil and its industrial exploitation. Power Glory: Day of the Dead (Gold) (2014) is a screen print that merges Shepard Fairey’s distinctive style with traditional Día de los Muertos symbols. The composition features a stylized face adorned with calavera and decorative motifs, evoking both the celebration of life and remembrance of the dead. The golden palette gives the work a sacred and precious quality while enhancing its visual impact. The artist combines activist graphics with popular aesthetics to create a powerful symbol of memory and resilience. This piece perfectly illustrates OBEY’s skill in blending social engagement, iconic culture, and formal beauty.
