JR’s monumental installation, created for the Forever is Now festival in Giza, features a steel and mesh structure that plays with perspective. When viewed from a certain angle, it creates the illusion that the top of the Pyramid of Khafre is floating above its base. JR uses the technique of anamorphosis, already employed in his previous works, to create this visual trompe-l’œil.
The artwork also exists as a lithograph: a 16-color print measuring 70 × 100 cm, released as a limited edition. In parallel, JR launched a collection of 4,591 NFTs, each one representing a fragment of the image — a number chosen as a nod to the age of the pyramid.
