FROM THE CITY TO SEATY

Originally from the south of France, Seaty now lives in Dubai and has carved out a place for himself among the most emblematic artists of contemporary art in the 21st century. And for good reason, the artist has never ceased to reinvent himself, to evolve, swapping the wild graffiti of the beginning of his career for works exhibited in the four corners of the world.

As a teenager, the 2000s took him to the streets to establish his creative playground through the urban works he produced throughout the city. In 2008, the self-taught artist decided to give a new turn to his art and devoted all his time to it.

Over the last 20 years, the artist whose stage name "Seaty" is the homophone of "city" which is a tribute to the genesis of his career, has forged a recognizable signature with a hybrid style split between realism and abstract. This is his strength! He brilliantly combines genres and creates a unique work that is both melancholic and colourful, like a clever mix with pop art accents.

In the scope of his creativity, we find a constant work process. The black and white portraits are unnervingly realistic and are enhanced by a burst of bright colours, a nod to the artist's urban connotations. To conceptualise his portraits, Seaty directs his iconographic research towards faces with strong looks, from different ethnicities, tribes and cultures. It should be noted that the French artist quickly multiplied his risk-taking by diversifying his creative media: from canvas on wood to road signs, cars and telephone booths.

Seaty is far from having said his last word and has been working for 2 years on the creation of large-scale sculptures. If the project remains secret for the moment, Seaty reveals that these new works will be busts of African and Asian women respecting his 3 key words "colourful, urban and modern".

This will mark 20 years of his career with a red-hot iron and will arouse the curiosity of the contemporary art world without moderation.
