Love Rat depicts the famous rat holding a red paintbrush with which it draws a heart. Hand-painted on a wooden skateboard deck, the design draws on the stencil aesthetic and striking contrasts characteristic of the British street artist’s visual universe. The rat, a recurring figure in Banksy’s work, symbolizes outsiders, resistance and freedom, while the red heart adds a message of love and hope to the composition.
