Acryllic pencil
Unique work
Dimensions : 21 x 80 cm

A fan and avid skateboarder in his youth, the artist Hom Nguyen naturally took an interest in this medium for the Class Art Biarritz gallery, located in Biarritz, the capital of board sports in France and Europe. The result is a work of art that is both modern and dynamic, while being infused with the emotion that is ever-present in the artist’s works. They are created using a mixed technique, combining Indian ink, acrylic pencil, and acrylic dripping.

In Icare, Hom Nguyen chooses extreme simplicity to depict the face of a young woman, or sometimes a child, using only a white acrylic pencil on a black background. This stark contrast creates a luminous presence that seems to emerge from the shadows. The fine, spontaneous lines give the artwork a palpable emotional intensity. The simplicity of the gesture opens a vast space for the imagination, inviting viewers to project their own stories onto this suspended face. The minimalism does not diminish the depth; on the contrary, it amplifies the subject’s fragility and strength. With Icare, Hom Nguyen explores the connection between elevation, innocence, and vulnerability in a work as pure as it is moving.
