BIOGRAPHY
Eddy MANIEZ is a creator and a tamer of silicone... A unique concept in the world!!!
He was born in Grasse in 1969. Self-taught, guided by people and with creative generosity, he is curious about everything. His technique, born in 2006 and developed in 2010, consists of dressing his creations with thousands of silicone dots, using a simple manual gun.
His meeting with Erwan LANGLOIS, who immediately fell in love with Eddy's animals, gave this adventure another dimension and together they decided to embark on the Meel Arts adventure. Since then, Eddy has continued to play with combinations, diverted materials and various materials in order to surprise the eye as well as the touch. It is by freehand, mastering breathing and gesture, that each silicone dot is applied. No drawing, no preparation, with the naked eye, he dresses the animal kingdom. His works are also adorned with SWAROVSKI crystals which ensure flawless shine. They are surprising and explosive!!! It is therefore forbidden not to touch!!!
"Self-taught artist from a very young age, I have always been attracted to creation, drawing, painting, fashion, music, architecture...Curious about new technologies, explorers, and handymen, learning and surprising exacerbate my spirit and bring me a lot of pleasure. I worked as a forester for 20 years. I love animals and their environment and they are a constant source of inspiration.
In my eyes, artistic work is collective, we individually continue the work of our ancestors in a contemporary way. "Guided by the human, I like to surprise."
Influenced by a range of artists such as Georges de la Tour, Nicolas de Staël, Van Gogh, Pierre Soulage, Vasarely, Seurat, Signac, Tapies, Dubuffet, Kandinsky, etc... In the same way as music, from classical to rock via blues, I need variations, contrasts to feel the emotions that will guide me towards pleasure, astonishment, doubt and our existence", he tells us.
The Class Art Biarritz gallery offers multiple sculptures by Eddy Maniez.
