BIOGRAPHY

Boutet, a Quebec artist, has been creating, inventing, and animating characters for television and the Web, books and magazines, for major international companies for 25 years.

Boutet has always been impressed and inspired by Picasso and Miro, by the great traditional masters and modern eclectic artists. “If Picasso had owned these modern 3D creation tools, imagine what he would have created!".

He masters the art of illustration, 3D drawing, video animation and painting. Today, he applies all his experience as a digital art creator in a very unique and personal style.

Boutet's works are avant-garde while being classic subjects. The impressive grace of his characters stems from his vision, design, and choice of materials and their arrangement, all amalgamated in a spatial lightness that he composes from scratch.

With such vision, his experience and all these learnings, and, at the same time as a sculptor, gemologist, welder, glassblower, and lighting designer, Boutet has created a new form of art -- digital sculpture! The materials are worked by computer to redefine mythical characters and icons. His digital creations are printed on canvas and then varnished by hand with an acrylic varnish. Each of his works includes a unique sound animation that can be viewed using an application on a tablet or smartphone, called Artivive. His creations then break down into multiple constituent elements, which will ultimately come together to reconstitute a fixed visual.

Based in Lac-Beauport, Quebec, Boutet studied communication and graphic arts at Cégep de Ste-Foy. “You have to have the technique to free yourself from it and leave room for creativity,” he says. He has been studying for years with the greatest digital masters. Since the mid-90s, he has been creating, inventing and animating characters for television and the web, books and magazines, and for major international companies.
