BIOGRAPHY
Mathieu Forget defines himself as a creative, an artist. Today, he says he is a "creator, producer, performer", but deep down he is, above all, an artist, passionate and curious about all the arts, even sports and other environments in which one can find something artistic.
And, it is when he is with an audience, dancing or doing a show, that he feels the best.
Dancer, actor, acrobat and choreographer, Mathieu Forget takes pleasure in creating by intermingling disciplines. In particular, he jumps in the air and is photographed in positions as perilous as they are aesthetic. "Life is an art" is his favourite quote, from Georges Clemenceau. He read it when he was about 12-13 years old and it made an immediate impression on him. It is simple but so true. Mathieu really sees life as a work of art. Gradually, we draw our story, we have ups, we have downs. Life is made up of colours, encounters, loves and sorrows, it is made up of a bit of everything. He hopes that one day his highly visual work can inspire others to want to live their dreams and create their own works of art.
Mathieu Forget presented his first exhibition at Bercy Village, in 2021/2022 with shots where he stages himself "in the air". He seems to escape the rules of gravity, hence his nickname "The flying man".
For this exhibition, Mathieu has chosen 36 emblematic photos where he seems to levitate in the air. He defines himself as an artist who is always on the move. "In particular, I took a photo alone with a camera fixed on a tripod. I pressed the button, with an automatic trigger (...) It's one of my favourites", he explains to one of his fans.
Mathieu Forget, however, almost became a tennis player, like his godfather Yannick Noah but after a few years on the tennis circuit, he finally turned to dance artistic performances and photography. Often accompanied by videos, his photos have garnered him millions of views on social networks and attracted brands. He now lives from his art.
Class Art Biarritz is the first gallery to represent the artist, with a catalogue of exclusive photos, offered in multiple formats, and published from 10 to 100 copies.
