BIOGRAPHY

Richard Orlinski, born in 1966 in Paris, is a sculptor whose works are designed around the “Born Wild” concept in which the artist seeks to transform negative impulses into positive emotions. Orlinski studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris where he decided to become a sculptor. Inspired by the conventions of Pop art and Nouveau réalisme, he works largely with industrial materials such as resin and aluminium, marble, stone and bronze. His favourite subjects are monumental decorative animals, like Jeff Koons and Robert Indiana.

Since 2010, he has been one of the 10 best-selling French artists in the world.

His famous sculptures of panthers and crocodiles, as well as his other works, seek to reflect the most instinctive and impulsive parts of human nature and refine them through a quest for perfection.

After various trades and practising art as an amateur, he decided to devote himself fully to art in the early 2000s. He left his professional duties and worked for two years before presenting his first sculpture to the public in 2004. Galleries then began to take an interest in his work. He exhibited in Aspen in the United States and Val-d'Isère and Courchevel. He was exhibited at the FIAC in Paris in 2006. He has sold to private collectors such as Sharon Stone and Pharrell Williams, who were among his first clients. In 2014, he sold a piece for 15 million euros.

According to Le Quotidien de l'Art, Richard Orlinski is "little known to the specialized art press", on the other hand, he appears "often in general magazines, in particular, decoration". Indeed, although the artist met with commercial success, he was rarely present in the most influential museums' fairs, exhibitions and collections. In an interview with L'Express, the artist explains that "when this small world hears my name pronounced, they raise their eyes to the sky [...] The only time I was able to exhibit at the FIAC was through a charitable association.

His works have been exhibited in many institutions and art fairs around the world.
