BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1976, Sébastien Allart lives and works in Aix-en-Provence.

He began to exhibit locally in various artists' markets and was spotted by France 3 television to illustrate a series of documentary films.

By successive strokes, supported or sketched, wavy or angular, deployed or tightened, the works of Sébastien Allart give you the look he has on the real or imagined world, a world essentially in black and white. From his instinctive lines where the gaze triumphs, he lets an emotional charge escape, this charge which animates him and which he offers to the art lover.

Sébastien Allart believes that art is a way to begin to suggest stories that the viewer continues to tell. Art is this suggestive and imperceptible meeting point.

According to Nathalie K La Provence “Portraits with expressive looks by Sébastien Allart are not aggressive. The posture of the bodies, between fragility and strength, invites the viewer to question themselves and others. The half-tone blacks and whites, the more marked contrasts and the superposition of lines gradually model the figures until the soul shines through. With these latest works, Sébastien favours the feature and the line...”.

Maglala Kizomba considers that there is a lot of poetry and subtlety in Sébastien Allart's art, a subtle poetry, a poetic subtlety... From chaos comes order, from shadow comes light... Emptiness and fullness are harmoniously juxtaposed and the imagination reconstructs the missing elements as if they were obvious. A seemingly disorganised line, arabesques of intermingled scribbles that become, in their tangled and evanescent lightness, a whole organised portrait where nothing is left to chance. Everything falls back into place and makes sense. Without superfluity, Sébastien Allart tells us a story through the expressions of his fascinating and enigmatic characters. With his impulses, pen and Posca markers, Sébastien Allart succeeds in freezing the ephemeral, the fragility, the intensity of emotions to make them eternal...

His expressionist approach with a strong and spontaneous dynamic characterizes his work. His markers allow him to excel in his movement, thus releasing emotions aroused by the postures and attitudes of his subjects. A delicate alchemy thus gives each painting a unique character that appeals to the viewer.

His artistic work earned him to be in many galleries and contemporary art fairs such as:

  • Salon Art3f Paris, Toulouse, Nantes, Annecy-Annemasse-Geneva, Mulhouse, Monaco, Marseille, Strasbourg.

  • Sm'Art Aix-en-Provence

  • International Exhibition of Contemporary Art SIAC, Marseille

  • Large Contemporary Art Market, Paris Bastille

  • Art Home Expo, Chatou.
